Mandatory Recount of Fracking Ban Vote Taking Place in Broomfield

The final but unofficial vote on a proposed five-year fracking ban in the Denver suburb of Broomfield shows the measure passed by 17 votes, close enough to trigger an automatic recount.

The Broomfield Enterprise reports (http://tinyurl.com/kmv5l4t ) the recount could occur as soon as Monday.

The initial count after the Nov. 5 election showed the measure failing by 13 votes.

After previously uncounted military, overseas and other ballots were tallied Thursday, the result was 10,350 votes in favor of the ban and 10,333 against.

As posted in my earlier bog, voters in three other Front Range cities approved fracking bans on Nov. 5.
